Specializing in Laryngology, Voice and Swallowing Disorders, and Care of Professional Voice
Overview of Voice Disorders
Voice disorders can adversely impact our social well-being and are often a detriment to a career, even if we are not professional singers. Disturbances in one’s voice have a wide range of origin including neurological disorders, vocal fold paralysis, benign vocal fold lesions, reflux, vocal abuse and early vocal fold cancer. Such voice disturbances are commonly present as hoarseness. Symptoms lasting more than two weeks should be evaluated by a qualified health care provider and may warrant further evaluation by an otolaryngologist / laryngologist.
